Why was my Steripen model supplied with a USB-Micro-B port instead of a USB-C port?

According to the new legislations for a standardized plug (USB-C) on electronic equipment (EU 2022/2380 and California AB 1659) becoming mandatory in all EU member states starting December 28, 2024, devices using radio communication capabilities (e.g., Bluetooth, Wi-Fi) must provide USB-C charging interface. While some devices like mobile phones, tablets or headphones do use these technologies, current rechargable Steripen products (Ultra & UltraLight) do not incorporate radio communication capabilities and are therefore not subject to this directive.

While Steripen is driven to offer and support most modern solutions, already established Steripen models may still be provided with USB-Micro-B charging interface. For detailed information, please find specifications in the manual/factsheet of each product.
